Run The Windsor Womens 10K for Our Headline Charity
Wellbeing Of Women
We are Wellbeing of Women
Heavy menstrual bleeding, endometriosis, infertility, miscarriage, and menopause affect millions of women, yet so many still don’t receive the care and support they need.
Despite these conditions having a devastating impact, women’s health remains a chronically underfunded and neglected area of healthcare.
That’s where we come in.
We are the only UK charity dedicated to transforming women’s health through research. Since 1964, we’ve invested over £75 million in pioneering projects that have led to new treatments, breakthroughs, and a brighter future for women and girls.
Our Impact
Thanks to incredible supporters like you, our research has:
- Helped establish the link between HPV and cervical cancer, leading to the first preventative school-wide vaccination programme.
- Led to the use of ultrasound to monitor babies’ health during pregnancy.
- Demonstrated the importance of folic acid for pregnant women.
- Pioneered artificial surfactant, a treatment that helps premature babies breathe.
- Tackled health inequalities to ensure no one gets left behind.
- Developed the first potential non-hormonal and non-surgical treatment for endometriosis.
- Demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine for pregnant women and their babies.
Run for Women’s Health
We are delighted you’re considering fundraising for us in the upcoming Women’s 10K or Half Marathon! Last year, our incredible runners raised over £95,000 in races across the UK, and this year, we hope to raise even more with your help. You can find out more about our impact and research projects here.
Every penny you raise will directly fund groundbreaking research to improve the lives of women, girls, and babies. Without your support, none of this would be possible.
Why Our Supporters Fundraise for Us
Erika’s Story
“I chose to fundraise for Wellbeing of Women for the London Marathon as I have struggled with women’s health issues for over 10 years. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and subsequent fertility issues last year after over a decade of feeling unheard by doctors. I know I am not the only one, and the more women I speak to the more I want to raise awareness, so they don’t have to wait as long for the attention they deserve.” – Erika McKeever, London Marathon runner
The Difference Your Support Makes
Megan & Flora’s Story
“Flora was born eight weeks early, and when she cried after I gave birth, I felt a huge sense of relief and thought she would be ok. So, I was shocked when I visited her in intensive care and saw that she couldn’t breathe. She was rushed to another hospital in an ambulance for treatment and an operation. It was all fast-paced and confusing, and when I saw her after I thought ‘This can’t be my baby, she’s all swollen and blue.’ She was too fragile to be picked up or cuddled, so I couldn’t even comfort her in the way I wanted to. Flora was put on a breathing machine and received surfactant for 6 days. Once she could breathe on her own, it felt like she was finally alive. I stopped thinking she was going to die and looked forward to bringing her home. Surfactant truly saved her life.”
Tanya’s Story
“My periods leave me on the floor. I’m vomiting and can’t move. I’m crying (a lot of crying), holding my belly, with shooting pains down my back, down my leg. I get pains in my rectum, so I can’t sit down. I try to be positive. But there was a stage in my life where the pain was daily – it gets hard to keep going. I have adenomyosis and endometriosis. But there aren’t many treatments plans out there – only operations, like hysterectomies. We desperately need new treatments and innovations.”
